A Heart for Ministry

The heart of our Summer Internship is to cultivate a godly lifestyle of prioritizing your relationship with God and your vital contribution to the Church, the Body of Christ - while balancing needful employment and life interests.

This is not a summer to “set apart” seeking the Lord.

This is a summer to cultivate a LIFESTYLE of seeking the Lord - to learn how to seek the Lord at ALL TIMES, in everything you do, as the most important investment of your time, for all of your life - as you manage daily life in work, relationships, and personal activities.

You were not created to be a seasonal seeker of God.

Learning to be a disciple of His Word, a servant of His people, and a minister to the church is Life Abundant.

By the close of this Summer, may you find yourself singing out as the Psalmist did: “One Thing have I desired and that I will seek - that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life - to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.” Psalm 27:4

| DISCIPLESHIP | “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15‍ ‍

Sitting at the feet of Jesus, being His disciple through the study of God’s Word is not just a critical foundation for ministry. It is THE most important part. You cannot be effective in ministering to others if you have not first allowed the Lord to minister to you.

As an intern, you’ll experience discipleship through the study of God’s Word, hearing practical ministry wisdom from our pastors and teachers as you build solid friendships with your colleagues and church families.

Wednesday evenings are set apart for house prayer time. Fridays are a combination of practical servanthood and class time with fellow interns in a verse-by-verse inductive bible study. Every other Friday is dedicated to Young Adults fellowship for worship and verse-by-verse study through the Word. Morning Worship is available Monday-Thursday as you set your heart to desire that One Thing - Psalm 27

| SERVANTHOOD |“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4

Servanthood is ministering to God’s people when no one sees you. It is learning the behind-the-scene needs of a church, learning to serve the body of Christ through practical and creative church projects.

Servanthood is setting aside your own agenda to esteem others first. Being a disciple of God’s Word and a silent servant to God’s people must go hand in hand before you can enter the light of visible ministry.

| MINISTRY |“For the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God.” Ephesians 4:12

As ministers to the body of Christ we learn humility as we give back to God talents and skills that He as equipped us for HIS glory. Psalm 115:1 becomes our life verse: “not to us, Oh Lord, but to YOUR Name be the glory, becuase of Your love and faithfulness.” One body yet many members, and we each play a critical part that HE assigns to us.

You will engage in ministry to the body of Christ on Sundays and weekly Bible Studies on the Beach, as well as opportunities to focus on a specific area of ministry interest along side our staff: Youth and Kids Ministry, Media Streaming, Lyric Projection, Soundboard, Prayer Team, Coffee Station Hospitality, Deacon Assistants, and Door Greeters.

Calvary Heritage, a Calvary Chapel, is located in Brookings, Oregon, on the beautiful Southern Oregon Coast, which offers a variety of adventures to enjoy on your days off. Take a float down the Chetco River, walk the beaches and surf the waves in the Pacific Ocean, explore the Redwood Forest, or hike a scenic coastal beach trail. Sundays Worship Service 930am - 1pm (Servanthood and Ministry)
Thursdays Worship on the Beach 5:30pm - 8:30pm (Ministry)
Fridays Internship Block 9am - 1pm (Servanthood and Discipleship)
Fridays Young Adult Fellowship 6:30pm - 8:30pm (Discipleship)

COST

There is no cost to participate in the Summer Internship.

Lunch is provided on Friday afternoons.

INTERN LAKE TRIP

We like to call this our Prayer Retreat - Once a summer we take the Interns on a day trip to the Lake to pull them around the water on inner tubes behind a boat… generally they find themselves calling out to the Lord to save them. Great fun!

HOUSING

$1200 for summer housing (optional), includes all utilities (available for 18 years and older)

We have separate housing for both gals and guys, each with a full-size kitchen and fully furnished. Everyone is responsible for their own meals.

INTERNSHIP FOR LOCALS

Local residents are welcome to apply for internship and commute from home.

TRANSPORTATION

Personal vehicles or bikes are welcomed but not required, everything is in walking distance!

JOBS

Because this is a part-time internship, Interns have the option to hold down a part time job if they desire as long as it does not interfere with Time Commitment. Connect with us if you are interested in getting a job - we may have a few ideas for you!
